BLOG: QILO x Irregulars "Lhotse Down Puffer" in Aor1 & Aor2 (Drops 12/6)
Introducing our all-new "Lhotse Down Puffer” - the latest high-end offering in our Holiday ‘24-’25 lineup.
We spent over two years developing the perfect down-insulated jacket for Winter.
This new, premium entry in our outerwear line is designed from the ground up to keep you warm in cold temps, while offering water resistance and hand-warming pockets.
Built to the same exacting standards as high-end name brands while offering more features and accessories.
Features & Our Design Process Below:
Born out of necessity - we were personal users/owners of North Face’s “Nuptse” Retro Puffer Jacket while researching & developing our own Puffer.
It soon occurred to us that the “hood” on theirs is almost useless. A thin flap of fabric that tucks into the collar.
We learned from experience that cold temps affect the user’s head almost immediately. Our design utilizes a fully insulated hood that is zipper-removable.
We also opted for a 5-channel puffer design, which retains much of the classic “puffy” silhouette from North Face’s 4-channel, while slimming it down slightly for a more contemporary look.
Our shell fabric material is also a thicker 70D ripstop (vs their 40D non-ripstop) for increased durability, abrasion/wind-resistance, wind-resistance, of course….improved water resistance.
While the thicker shell material adds a bit to the weight, you need not worry about trekking through dense, thorny brush. The thicker shell also improves insulation/heat retention.
Responsibly sourced 650 Fill Power Goose Down is used for the insulation.
We ditched the self-fabric cuff tabs for Hypalon cuff material for increased durability & aesthetics.
These are constructed in the same high-end technical outerwear source where key pieces for Arc Teryx, Stone Glacier, & Stone Island are made.
We managed to pack in all these feature-rich upgrades & improvements while still offering ours at a lower retail price than the Nuptse.
Lastly - as a final dig to the Nuptse, we named our superior puffer jacket the “Lhotse”; the 4th-tallest mountain on Earth, and adjacent to Everest.
If you still own a North Face, now’s the time to burn it and get the “Lhotse.”
The usual route up Lhotse shares the same route as the Everest route to the South Couloir; climbing through the area known as the Yellow Band behind Camp III. After this point, upon leaving Camp III, the routes diverge with Everest climbers branching off to the left towards the so-called Geneva Spur en route to the South Col., while Lhotse climbers turn right, following the north-west face up the slope towards the summit of Lhotse.
